These cycle maintenance sessions are aimed at beginners to learn bike repair, although they can be bespoke to the group and are arranged at a pace to suit the abilities of the participants.
The basic cycle maintenance course at the Urban Cycle Centre covers all of the essentials in bike repair and maintenance. These sessions are designed to be informative, interactive and hands-on, allowing participants to learn bike repair and get practical skills to help them maintain their bicycles.
Aprons and protective gloves are offered but as bikes can be oily we suggest you wear your old ‘clobber.’
We’ll supply all the tools and equipment that you need for the course. There’s a list provided of some basic tools to buy after the session so you can put what you’ve learned into practice.
The course is arranged in small, friendly mixed groups of up to six participants at a time. We can organise ladies or gents-only maintenance sessions if required.
Our bike instructors are all experienced cyclists and qualified cycle mechanics so please feel free to ask any questions as we go along.
There is free onsite parking at Philips Park in Whitefield, Manchester. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available if you’ve built up a thirst.
Our workshop team can also deliver the course at a venue of your choice.

“This course was great, I just wanted to know how to fix a flat tyre and put my seat up. I’m fed up of going to a bike shop for things I can probably do myself! Jake was easy to talk to explained everything clearly, definitely worth attending. Thanks guys.”
